As a freelance television producer, I’ve had a lot of websites. It always made sense to have a space I owned versus just showcasing the work on various platforms like Vimeo or YouTube. I’m also the type that wants to be able to customize the look and make changes to content easily.
Once Upon A Time…
For my first website, I paid a guy 1500 hard-earned dollars to build it (remember Flash?). It was very cool for its time, but the shininess wore off pretty quickly when I had to update my reel or add new company bios or credits. With each update, I had to pay the developer.
Or how about the time I wanted to figure out a way to display video in the hero section of my site? Thirty minutes of Googling later, I found (then paid) another guy to revise something called a CSS Stylesheet that involved updating it every time I wanted to change it. CSS? Coding!? Huh? One mistake and I could screw up my entire website.
Maybe I’m more particular than the average person when it comes to websites. I just wanted a site that went beyond ‘good enough.’ Our industry is visual, right? So wouldn’t it make sense you’d want to show up online in the same way you show up in your work?
With Showit, you can customize every inch of a website with no code. It’s a drag-and-drop, what-you-see-is-what-you-get interface that blew my mind.
I can customize anything?! Really!? Video in the hero section? Change fonts, colors and update easily without hiring someone? No boxes?! No developer costs? And I don’t have to buy a boring template with limitations? I can color outside the lines? Seriously?!? It was actually FUN.
So OK, maybe I got a little TOO excited (#technerd). Turns out thousands of creators were using it, albeit mostly wedding photographers. So after designing a few sites, I began designing the Tribeca Collection, with the tv and film industry in mind. I also created one for designers (but honestly each of these templates can be customized for just about any business).
Imagine having a website you ACTUALLY love. You know, the kind of site you’re actually *proud* to show off instead of doing the whole “Well, maybe just go to my Vimeo page” shame-hustle?
Imagine a site that…
→ You can actually control
→ Elevates your particular skillset and brand
→ Converts your dream clients
→ Grows with you (instead of holding you back)
→ Gets you found on Google
→ Goes to work FOR you every day
→ Doesn’t cost a fortune.
Showit works in tandem with WordPress, which means you can have a blog and easily create posts for news updates, podcast episodes, or new project case studies. Even better news is you can migrate any existing WordPress or Squarespace blog over to your new site.
Here’s a little sample of how quickly you can customize The Lara West template. I tweaked the cover page to go from interior design to a production designer’s site…(I named her Erin Gaines).
When you purchase any of our templates, you’ll also receive world class support. Plus, with the purchase of any template, you’ll get one month free on your Showit subscription. Need help choosing? Here’s a quick breakdown:
Tribeca Filmmakers: Designed for small agencies and production companies or for any creator with a podcast, this site includes a separate podcasting page plus a bio section to highlight team members.
Anna Lang: Think of her as the little sister to the Tribeca Filmmakers template. If you’re self-employed and need an easy way to share your credits, there’s a cool option to upload your latest credits in the bio section. You’ve also got a portfolio section and the blogging option.
Lara West: Lara combines a sleek modern vibe to showcase your work and is recommended for designers, real estate agents, home stagers and more. Lara also features a Shop page that integrates beautifully with Shopify (one click done), Woo Commerce or Thrivecart and more. Sell services, digital products or merchandise.
